Toddler One-piece to Dress - Mini Refashion
I've been a bit under the weather so my sewing time has been limited. I've started a few projects and was only able to complete this one piece romper to dress refashion. I apologize for the messy sewing job, I completed this in 30 minutes and I had a bit of fever, but enough about that. Here's how I did it...
You can use any outgrown one piece which still fits around the chest and waist. I chose this sweater one-piece, I thought it looked so cute on Elizabeth last winter. I cut the legs right about the snaps.
Then I cut the sleeves. I used another top to approximate how long I wanted the sleeves to be.
I took the sleeve and leg pieces and cute them so that they were all the same length.
I then sewed them together to form a circle. Before I sew and knit or any fabric with stretch to it I always add a bit of interfacing to it to minimize stretching.
I really I would have done this step before sewing it together. Once I placed the skirt with the dress I didn't like the fit. I took a ruler and narrowed the top of the skirt to give it an a-line look.
I stitched down the new seam marks and cutoff the excess fabric.
I added a hem to the skirt and the sleeves. Can you tell I forget to add interfacing to the bottom hem? I looks horrible and wavy!! Now that my cold medicine is kicking in, I'm not too happy with this dress. I seriously could have done a better job!

- Hello, I’m Rachel. I started sewing 9 months ago and fell in love with putting together unique clothes for my children to wear. Although I’ve focused mainly on clothes I’m trying to branch out into other crafts. This blog gives a peek into my current projects. Please feel to leave comments or email me questions or ideas at rachel@sewambitious.com. Thanks for visiting!

As soon as I saw the picture I thought the wavy part on the bottom was really cute! Don't be so hard on yourself - it looks really cute!
I think this is so cute. SOOO creative! I have never even attempted anything like this! Its great! Gives me ideas for the cute little things I find for my grandaughter that are a bit to small! Thanks!
You stopped by my blog and questioned me about the diaper bag for toddlers! *thanks for stopping by!*..Its a McCalls pattern, #9050. There is more to the patterns but I add and subtract according to what age I am making it for. Its easy too!
I love all your sweet ideas for the clothes so am now following you...keep up the good work!

I can see why you are not satisfied with it. It's fine but there's something that doesn't feel wright. I think it is the last part, why don't you remove it and make a sweater instead of a dress? Or use a strip fabric, in that colors, but that bottom...
so cute and handy to recycle!!! love the result!
